Early Learning Program Curriculum

The Early Learning Program uses a combination of two curriculums:  The Comprehensive Curriculum by Innovations and The Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies.

The Comprehensive Curriculum advocates thinking about and planning for everything that can, by the nature of the setting, contribute to child development and the teacher's relationship with the child and the family.  This is a seamless, comprehensive and developmental approach to early childhood education for children birth to three years of age.

The Creative Curriculum outlines what children learn during the first three years, the experiences through which children achieve these learning goals, what staff and parents do to help children reach these goals, and the materials needed to support the implementation of the curriculum.

Preschool Curriculum

The Preschool uses a comprehensive curriculum based on the standards set by the Florida Kindergarten Council, our accrediting agency.  The Florida Kindergarten Council encompasses goals which provide for the total development of young children as its paramount consideration.  A healthy, happy and challenging environment where children are encouraged to grow and develop to the best of their abilities is created and maintained.  The curriculum is planned to nurture the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development of each child.  Units of Study are created and rotated depending on the age of the students.  We also use the Letter People Curriculum by Abrams and the ELLM curriculum by UNF.

Our program is based on the knowledge that our goals are best achieved through the center approach to classroom design.  Learning centers are used and consist of the block center, dramatic play area, art center, science, book nook, music area, manipulatives, gross motor play area and computers.  Students learn concepts through experiences provided and through direct involvement in planned learning activities appropriate to their individuality.  There is time to work independently as well as in a group.
